The marketing alliance has been promoting the attractions of Germany's major city destinations in international markets for more than 50 years. The cities are places where people can experience art and culture as well as major business centres. The Magic Cities association is supported by Deutsche Bahn, Lufthansa and the German National Tourist Board.
The Magic Cities have been extremely successful in attracting the majority of all foreign visitors to Germany to spend a visit to at least one of the ten cities. In 2008 more than 3 million overnights have been counted form the USA and more than 2,6 million from Asia.
