Design Package

On 1st November 2008 the Museum für Angewandte Kunst (Museum of Applied Arts) opened its new design collection. The exhibits featured are part of a collection of internationally significant art and design objects compiled by Prof. R. G. Winkler, and left to the museum, supplemented by works from the museum’s own collections. This allows the museum to take advantage of the rare opportunity not to present design in isolation or in “period rooms”, but rather in a close relationship with works from the visual arts. Entitled “Kunst und Design im Dialog” (“Art and Design in Dialogue”) this will be a completely new kind of permanent design exhibition, which will explore the diverse links between design and artistic developments as well as with contemporary history.
