Schildergasse

According to the new city ranking, Cologne’s Schildergasse is Germany’s most visited shopping boulevard.Bustling with over 13,280 visitors per hour, it occupies the first rank followed by the Munich “Kaufingerstraße” (11,905 visitors). The Frankfurt “Zeil” achieved rank three with 11,420 passers-by despite construction works. This is the result of a nationwide simultaneous counting of passers-by in major German shopping malls on Saturday, 10th April 2010, from 1 p.m. to 2p.m., which was conducted by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL). One of Germany’s favourite addresses, the adjoining “Hohe Straße” could take the ninth position in the German ranking. This is why Cologne heads the list of preferred German shopping cities.
