Artcity Düsseldorf
After the successful Quadriennale 2006, an occasion on which all the major Düsseldorf art institutions together with the state capital Düsseldorf showed an outstanding well attended series of exhibitions on the theme of “Bodies”, the joint approach of these institutions of the visual art continues. Those are:- Akademie-Galerie - Die Neue Sammlung
- KIT - Kunst im Tunnel
- Kunsthalle Düsseldorf
- Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen
- K20K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen
- museum kunst palast
- NRW Forum Kultur und Wirtschaft
The Art Academy forms the nucleus of the exciting environment that is the art city Düsseldorf and has produced many internationally famous artists: Joseph Beuys, Gerhard Richter, Jörg Immendorff or the great stars of photography of the Becher school such as Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, Thomas Struth or Candida Höfer. Apart from the Academy and a lively museum landscape, Düsseldorf has been enriched, since the 1980s, with a decidedly heterogeneous spectrum of more than 100 galleries and art spaces. With ‘KIT – Kunst im Tunnel’, Düsseldorf has recently created a spectacular forum for the graduates of the ART Academy and sharpened its profile as a place of creative production and an up-to-date art scene. Düsseldorf offers manifold, ideal conditions for all those who have art at heart: artists, collectors, gallery owners and the public. Düsseldorf offers the guided tour “ArtCityPLUS” with a walk along the renowned museums and the Art Academy, complemented by fascinating visits of four selected galleries in Düsseldorf including the opportunity to talk to the gallery owners.
