Bach Museum (© Bach Museum Leipzig)
The Bach Museum Leipzig was reopened in 2010 after extensive alteration work and within just a few months was attracting visitors from all over the world. Since March 2010, it has shown Bach’s life and work against a contemporary backcloth with the aid of a scholarly and interactive permanent audio-visual exhibition and temporary exhibitions on different themes. The centrepiece of the museum is the climate-controlled treasury room in which valuable original documents from the Bach-Archiv are shown. Besides regular guided tours of the museum, there is an all-year programme of events featuring concerts and lectures in the Baroque Summer Salon. The very year of its reopening, the Bach Museum Leipzig was awarded the Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH prize for tourism.
